Dinner and drinks? Movie and a meal? Brunch and a walk in the park? Sure, these all sound like lovely Valentine's Day dates, but how about trying something a little quirkier this year? Austin is known for being weird and wonderful, so how about celebrating Austin-style this year? Ditch the candle-lit dinner and opt for one of these unusual dates instead!

1. Valentine's Day on the Lady Bird Lake

Okay, this may be too typically romatinc for this list, but picture this: paddling on Lady Bird Lake in a double-kayak or canoe with your friend or loved one, a cozy blanket, the sun setting in the background. Perfection. Book at least one week in advance to get the Love Birds Package on Valentine's Day.

2. Take Aim (at Cupid)

Whether you’re celebrating with a loved one or celebrating the single life with a friend, we all need to throw stuff at stuff occasionally. Well, Urban Axes has you covered! $30 gets you an hour-long axe-throwing session with a drink on the house. Wear closed-toe shoes, please.

3. Valentine's Couples Planting Party

This one takes place before Valentine’s Day on February 10th, so mark your calendars! Succulent Native will provide complimentary drinks while you get you and your sweetie learn how to create plantable clay hearts and succulent arrangements. Get the details here.

4. Galentine's Day Sip + Shop Pop Up

Happening on February 13th at The Austin Winery, you and your gal pals can try delicious wines and shop local artisans' wares together! This event is only ten minutes away for Camden Rainey Street residents.

5. Food Truck Crawl

Stroll at your own pace, eat to your heart’s content. Austin is bursting with so many different food trucks to choose from, and what better way to celebrate love and Austin than by making your own food truck crawl? Start on East 6th Street at Dee Dee Thai for some authentic Thai food,  work your way down to Via 313 for some Detroit-style pizza, and then onto The Picnic food truck park to try some burgers, cupcakes, and more.
