Did you know that 46-58 THOUSAND square miles of forest are lost every year? That’s equivalent to 48 football fields every minute! (2023, One Tree Planted Tree Facts)

In April 2023, in celebration of Earth Day Month, Camden established a new partnership with One Tree Planted, with a goal of planting more than 5,000 trees and re-populating forests across North America.

Camden's Vice President of Sustainability, Elizabeth Lutz shared, "Incorporating sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, & Governance) practices into Camden’s business strategy has been a key focus, especially over the past several years. We are elated to support One Tree Planted and their outstanding initiatives through this partnership."

How did the partnership work?

Camden planted a tree with One Tree Planted for any customer who found their new home and signed their lease at Camden, moved in, or renewed their apartment home during the month of April 2023.

Camden employees and residents also got involved by volunteering in Earth Day Month activities through One Tree Planted's Earth Day Month events. Learn more about how you can get involved with One Tree Planted.

We achieved our goal!

We received an overwhelmingly positive response to the partnership and thanks to Camden's current and new residents, we exceeded our goal of 5,000 trees! In total, One Tree Planted will plant 7,614 trees this year through their Urban Forestry Action Fund because of Camden's support.

Among many other ESG-focused achievements, Camden is proud to have 25 Green Building Certifications, more than 200 Electric Vehicle charging stations, and more than 20% of common area electricity coming from renewable energy sources.

Camden also encourages residents to make sustainable choices for their utilities, like becoming a member of Arcadia Community Solar in participating markets (Denver, Washington D.C., and Maryland) and opting to use Real Page's new Smart Water tool, helping residents and Camden reduce water usage.
